PROJECT DETAILS

BACKGROUND

PopTech faced a massive challenge as they began Project Masiluleke, a global health initiative focused on promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and testing. South Africa has more HIV positive citizens than any country in the world. In some provinces, more than 40% of the population is infected. Yet only 2% of South Africans have ever been tested for HIV. Of those who are HIV positive, a mere 10% are receiving anti-retroviral therapy – leaving 90% untreated, infectious and likely to die.

BRIEF

PopTech tells stories about all their initiatives both online and for the Poptech audience, which spans designers, business executives, technologists, and scientists. All it takes is for it to get in front of the right person and it can make a world of difference. We're not about clickbait. We're about connecting people together to make change in the world and these are the stories we tell.

CONCEPT

This is one of a handful of videos that we produced to document the evolution of Project Masiluleke. The goal of this video was to highlight the challenges that South Africans confront in the face of HIV and TB.

RESPONSE

Organizations such as the Yale School of Management, the UN Foundation, CNET, and GOOD have written about these videos and shared them further with their audiences.
