PROJECT DETAILS

BACKGROUND

For many of the world’s poorest communities, the adverse effects of climate change impact women and girls the hardest. In advance of a PopTech event in Nairobi that focused on climate resilience and gender, PopTech partnered with the Red Crescent to produce a game that would introduce the idea of insuring crops to smallholder farmers whose livelihoods are being influenced by climate change. In order to spread the message, we produced this short film, the second of two films in the series.

BRIEF

Our task was to create a video that would teach trainers how to run this game in their own communities.

CONCEPT

We co-wrote the script with Pablo Suarez and Janot Mendler de Suarez and then brought it to life with b-roll from the documentary short about the game, as well as simple text, animation and stills.

RESPONSE

The Red Crescent has gotten ample coverage of these videos, and the videos in turn have allowed Red Crescent to scale this game by making it possible for others to use it. Currently, the Red Crescent, UN agencies and a multitude of other organizations are using the game to promote awareness on these complex issues by making their work more participatory.
